Greetings Earthlings!
We are currently decompressing from a radical and life changing week at Burning Man!
After 8 days in the over-stimulating Black Rock City, we knew that we would need a couple days to rest and enjoy some running water and amenities. Although this was our first Burn, it is not our first experience at a festival or big travel trip. With all of these moments in motion, we have found decompression and integration as two of the most important practices after transformational experiences.
Getting back to ‘real life’ can be difficult and emotional. Jonah and I both remember coming home from Tony Robbins’ Date With Destiny, on cloud 9, ready to conquer the world, and realizing shortly after, that our highly elevated-state was not in direct alignment with the rest of society. It can be a cold and lonely world after being surrounded by energetic, fun-loving and present humans for an extended period of time.
Many people we know, us included, have experienced challenging times reintegrating into society after big moments like these. Here are a couple tips from us to you on effective ways to decompress and integrate after big events in our lives:

The sunrises and sunsets at Burning Man are not to be missed!
1. Take it slow. If time allows, take a day or two to rest up and unpack. Time at home can be invaluable.
2. Journal. Write down your experiences and take the time to recount the stand-out memories.
3. Catch up and share your experiences with your friends and family.
4. Nourish yourself with nutritious food and lots of fresh water.
5. Schedule yourself a massage or pedicure. Perhaps trade back rubs with a friend, or indulge in a hot epsom salt bath. Your body will thank you!
6. Keep something to look forward to on the horizon. It doesn’t have to be a big vacation, but how about a dinner with friends or a local music concert/live event?
7. Don’t dim your shine to match the general public. Bring the festival into your community! Keep your vibes high and shine bright, you superstar! Society needs your light!
Alison Wu, a Portland artist, recipe developer extraordinaire shared something similar on her Instagram (you can see the whole post here):
+Give yourself time and space. Take it slow. Be gentle with your body and with your mind. Rest as much as is possible.
+ Don’t make any big life decisions within 1-2 weeks of your experience. Allow things to settle in. Give yourself space to feel deeply into the experience.
+ Spend some time in nature. Connect with the rhythms of Mother Earth. Let your bare feet touch the dirt, the sand, the grass. Sit by the ocean, a lake, a river or a stream.
+ Take cues from your body. Listen to what your body wants in the form of nourishment and activity.
+ Follow your intuition. Often times, we’re able to tap into that deep sense of knowing much more easily during this highly vulnerable time following a profound experience. Take note of what your intuition is telling you.
+ Journal & dreamwork. Write, write, write. Take notice of your dreams. Look for signs and messages from your subconscious in the dreamworld. Write them down.
+ Process with people you trust / seek counsel. Be it friends, family or a therapist. Talk about your experience out loud. Ask for support and guidance.
+ Start new practices. But start small. Try one new practice if you feel called and if that goes well, slowly incorporate another.
+ Let go of what no longer serves you. Take stock of what is holding you back, what’s limiting you in moving closer to your truth.
Real life should be just as quality as life on the Playa, a festival, or that dream vacation. It’s up to us to create the lifestyle we so greatly deserve and desire.
You are beautiful. Life is beautiful!
We love you,
Brit and Jonah
