Journey into Stillness: BZen Visuals Meditation Album Unveiled
All it takes is one person to believe in another.
To spark inspiration, and change the trajectory of their life. I’m grateful to my yoga teacher who encouraged me to do my first yoga teacher training back in 2015. It changed my life, my habits, my patterns, and was the catalyst to my awakening.
Another person, my brother in law, Brant, has believed in me through the years, pushed me and challenged me to share my gifts. These meditations are one of those moments when he invited me into his studio to record… and that’s what sparked this album creation.
My body has been through so much since 2021 when I learned about a cancerous tumor in my breast. That journey was so stress inducing that I couldn’t even sit in my own meditation. I needed outside support and guidance.
I leaned on guided meditations to help calm my nervous system when life was at its peak challenge. I endured multiple surgeries and when I couldn’t do my usual practices, I would lay down, put my headphones on, and listen to guided meditations and yoga nidras. Thank you to my teachers for sharing their work digitally so that I could access them.
These recorded visualization meditations are a form of me giving back.
Sharing a gift from the heart for those who need the same support from home, that I’ve so abundantly received.
This idea sparked, and the conversations began to create these tracks.
We recorded them a month later in beautiful ScoopFlow Studios with all of my sound tools and the support of their amazing team including my producer and friend, Jared Masters.
Each track flowed effortlessly through me.
Recording these meditations at ScoopFlow Studios was next level. I had no idea what to expect other than what we covered in our initial preparation calls. The level of detail and attention it takes to record an album is beyond what I ever imagined. Nothing like what I’ve created before.
Each day we set intentions and envisioned together— a ceremony in and of itself.
We recorded vocals first, and when we listened back we decided which sound tools to incorporate into each track. Each sound tool was recorded and layered like a delicious cake into the meditation.
Throughout the week, we had snow in Grants Pass, OR and it felt so magical! There’s a beautiful window that looks at the mountain from the soundproofed studio where I admired the snow falling as we created an album for inner peace. Nature was working in our favor.
Track 1: Forgiveness
When we create space to forgive others, it unlocks space in our lives for more abundance, grace, freedom, and joy. When we forgive ourselves, even deeper healing occurs.
We could all use a little forgiveness in our lives.
This meditation visualization is a practice for self compassion and self forgiveness. Featuring Himalayan & crystal sound bowls and chimes. We incorporate a traditional Hawaiian forgiveness ritual— the Ho’oponopono prayer.
I first heard this prayer practice at a Fit For Service Summit– one of my beloved coaches Kyle Kingsbury shared it and it really resonated with my heart. It’s simple, approachable and it works (at least it has for me). I am so grateful to the Native Hawaiian origins of this prayer and I share it with great reverence. Although I am not of Hawaiian descent, I have had the privilege of spending a lot of time on the islands. Maui has become a home away from home and I have deep respect for the people and the ‘āina (land).
This meditation theme revealed itself as I was on the beach in Maui for my 36th birthday in January. Ho’oponopono came to me as I was preparing this Forgiveness meditation and the calling was strong to share. It’s so simple, yet we complicate the act of Forgiveness in our lives so much.
Please forgive me.
I love you.
What does forgiveness mean to you?
For me, it has been to really be in truth with who and what I need to forgive. Like you, I have been hurt many times in the past. This human experience is not without suffering (the yogis call this dukkha). However, I have learned that holding on to anger and resentment towards myself or another only causes myself more suffering. And so, forgiveness to me means letting go. Letting go of the emotional charge that was once there and allowing my nervous system to rest. I have found empathy and compassion as strong tools to help me get to forgiveness as well as really allowing myself to feel the depths of the emotions that want to come through (anger and sadness are big ones). For so long, I had shame around feeling anger. It wasn’t an emotion that was well handled in the household, so I learned to repress it and become the ‘good girl’. AKA, put a smile on your face and keep succeeding. In fact, keep yourself busy enough to suppress any emotion arising. However, we have to feel it to heal it. Have you allowed yourself to feel the full spectrum of emotions? Just like our healing journey, forgiveness isn’t linear. It’s something we’ll return to throughout our lifetime. So please turn to this meditation if you need some assistance through the process.
Track 2: Nature
During some of my biggest transitions and healing journeys in my life, I’ve called upon nature to shed my tears. I’ve cried to the trees many times and gone off grid to disconnect to reconnect. It’s far too easy to keep grinding and keep going through life when times are difficult. All signs point to ‘keep busy’ and ‘numb the pain.’ However, nature has been there for me to FEEL the pain. To get quiet with myself outside and really feel what’s coming up in my body.
The Nature meditation came to me while sitting with myself on the beach in Maui while observing a sleeping sea turtle (Honu). I took a walk with myself just observing all of the beauty. Grounding in with the present moment is how information flows most freely through me. A calm nervous system brings the most clarity in the moment.
For as long as I can remember, nature has been my safe place. As a small child we lived on a lot of acreage in Southern Oregon. I climbed trees, played, and spent most of my time outdoors. I have more memories outside than I do inside the home. When things were turbulent and chaotic in the house, I’d head to my favorite ‘secret spot’ in nature.
To this day, I remember that place vividly. It was magical. Ferns, a stream, moss, huge trees. I often go there in my meditations. As I’ve seen more nature in my life, I’ve collected visions of places that I can go back to in my mind to find peace.
Do you have a special nature spot that you go in your minds eye? Let me take you there…
Tune in with some noise canceling headphones for the best sound experience.
This track was inspired by East Forest & Ram Dass’ track “Nature” , we incorporate nature soundscapes and the transmission of the spiritual teachings of Ram Dass. This is sure to soothe any feelings of anxiety and leave you feeling inspired and grounded for your day. For this track you’ll hear the crystal sound bowls, rattles, an ocean drum, chimes, nature field recordings collected by Jared Masters and the beautiful Sacred Forest Crystal Harp. This harp was created deep in the forests of Gdynia, Poland, and developed by Thomas Gruba to meet the vision of a new humanity.
In Thomas’ words: “The wisdom that comes from the deep forest tells us: The time has come for humans to return to their original harmony.”
“Sacred Forest was born out of the idea to give people the most harmonizing tools that they would stand again in their power and gentleness. Currently, humanity has lost touch with its physical as well as spiritual balance. There are vibrations and sounds that we have forgotten that resonate with beautiful harmony. Crystals are the most harmonized structures in nature. That is why we use crystals to create instruments that can show us the way again by means of musical vibration. Precision is important to us to convey these vibrations in the best possible way.
When the crystallization is manifested in space, each of us can draw from it and harmonize with it. And also experiencing completely different frequencies of being. Each model has a unique sound and creates a different atmosphere.”
Thank you to Beautiful Sounds for this incredible instrument that was gifted to me for my 36th revolution around the sun, & Thank you to East Forest and Ram Dass for creating inspiration in my life and helping so many hearts to heal.
Track 3: Breathe
The breath is one of our most powerful tools that regulates our nervous system. Developing our awareness of the breath is an invaluable skill and one that needs to be practiced.
According to Othership “The parasympathetic nervous system and breathing are connected through the body’s vagus nerve and fight-or-flight response. When someone is under stress, their autonomic (i.e. sympathetic) nervous system activates itself to help them escape danger. This causes functions like shallow breathing, rapid heartbeat, and anxious feelings.
Practicing slow, deep breathing informs the body it’s safe now. This activates the parasympathetic nervous system and returns the body to a relaxed state of functioning. This helps to slow one’s heart rate, reduce anxiety and even lower their blood pressure.”
Take 14 minutes out of your day and breathe with me to release any stuck emotions, and hyper oxygenate the body & brain. Here we use multiple styles of breath & sounds to energize you and clear out any old emotional debris. Listen, breathe, and let go! Utilizing the shruti box, crystal harp, rattle, crystal sound bowl and Remo buffalo drum.
I feel the Remo Buffalo drum in my bones. The sound penetrates deeply into the body helping to calm the nervous system, lower blood pressure, and inducing deep relaxation.“The drumbeat resonates with the heartbeat of mother earth” says my beloved teacher Anahata Ananda. I first felt this resonance directly over my body during her breathwork ceremony with Fit For Service in 2019. The buffalo drum has transported me in many visualizations prior to that with another shamanic healer Elise Ann Moore where I had powerful experiences. I love this sound tool, and you will too when you hear it in this track and throughout the whole meditation visualization album.
Track 4: Intuition
A meditation visualization for your third eye to increase your awareness, intuition, and creativity. We incorporate affirmations to help inspire deep insight and uplift your spirit. This is a great practice to use anytime, but especially when you need an extra dose of personal wisdom. You’ll hear a plethora of sound instruments throughout this track, including crystal & Himalayan sound bowls, chimes, & the handpan. Plus, you’ll use your own instrument— your voice, through speaking affirmations aloud!|
Like my wonderful husband Jonah best explains: “Singing bowls have a wonderful way of bringing one into a resonant frequency – the most ideal frequency for one to naturally vibrate in. If you are ill, feeling anxious or stressed, or likely if you are just living a typical fast-paced life then your vibrational resonance has been compromised.
This is where singing bowls come to the rescue. We are talking major energetic shifts! The sound vibrations of singing bowls can reset you and help to bring you back into your resonant frequency, which in turn has an impact on your health, emotional well-being, mental stability, etc. Of course, singing bowls are unique and have different sound vibrations, so different bowls/tones can be used for attuning your energy systems. “ His favorite tool is our quartz crystal singing bowl, which he has named Frank (short for frankincense).
Track 5: Sacred Embodiment
Sacred Embodiment is an opportunity to honor your body and all that you are. The time is NOW to love yourself where you’re at and care for yourself like you deserve to be cared for. This was the last and final track for our BZen Visuals: Volume 1 album! A personal favorite as I consider myself a Sacred Embodiment Guide. I help to guide you deeper into your own body and higher self for grounding, body awareness, intuition and self healing.
All of the answers lie within. We just have to get quiet enough to listen.
The more we practice body awareness, the easier our healing journey becomes. Grounding is a pivotal piece to allowing the body to heal itself. Here we utilize the crystal harp, drum, chimes, and feature Jared Masters on the guitar.
Thank you, body. I love you, body.
This transmission is a result of the creativity of a whole team and transformed into something more beautiful than I could’ve ever expected. Adding a visual aspect to the recordings offers those who cannot listen, the ability to watch with captions, creating more accessibility. I’m so grateful to the group of incredible humans who have made this project possible and who have showed up for it for the last 8 months. WOW.
Special thanks to:
My incredible teachers, family & friends!
May you all enjoy these meditation visualizations and lean on them for support for the years to come. Thank you to the people who believe in one another.
Keep building each other up.
Keep pouring into one another, and may we all take inspired action on those sparks that light us up!
And please. Take a moment to meditate. It will change your life. Just give it a listen.
